POW camp PG 60  was set up on drained marshland on the outskirts of the village of COLLE DI COMPITO, in the commune of CAPANNORI, province of LUCCA, ITALY, to house Allied servicemen who had been taken prisoner by the Italians during the North African campaign of 1942.  After the camp was abandoned the area returned to its natural state, as can be seen from the above photograph, taken in February 2020.
